History
Beginnings
Biopelle, Inc was built upon the strong foundation of our parent company, Ferndale Pharma Group (FPG). FPG began as J.F. Hartz Company, founded in 1897, which originally served the medical profession by providing surgical instruments as well as various medical supplies, equipment, lab reagents and pharmaceutical products. As a forerunner in "home health care," the storefront of this multi-storied, brick building (originally located in downtown Detroit) served the public as a retail source for vitamins, tonics, elixirs, and surgical instruments.
Moving with the Times
Medical technology brought rapid and significant advancements, challenging the company to meet the changing needs of the medical community. In October of 1950, the J.F. Hartz Company moved to its present location in Ferndale, Michigan. The move was the beginning of a new focus of concentration which would contribute to the rise of a very successful and innovative company. The company focused on serving Michigan physicians and hospitals through surgical and pharmaceutical divisions. A few years later the company changed its name to Ferndale Laboratories, Inc. (FLI).
A Significant Business Shift
One of the most important decisions in determining the destiny of FLI was made in 1975 when Ferndale Laboratories embarked on a mission to grow from a local pharmaceutical manufacturer to a company with a national presence. At this time FLI created a pharmaceutical sales force to reach out to the US marketplace.
2004 brought about another transformation. Ferndale Laboratories reorganized to form the Ferndale Pharma Group., the holding company for a number of healthcare specialty companies, including Ferndale Laboratories, Eloquest Healthcare, and Biopelle, Inc.
Biopelle
Biopelle was established as the aesthetics division of Ferndale Laboratories, Inc. in August of 2005 after FPG executives recognized that the aesthetic needs of the marketplace required a dedicated division and sales force. Biopelle was charged with the task of developing a unique product portfolio designed to improve the health and appearance of the skin. Biopelle began with two products from Ferndale’s portfolio, LMX and OC Eight, and has continued to add new products that are unique, effective and represent cutting edge technology.
Biopelle is a team of individuals who are passionate about aesthetics and aesthetic medicine. Team Biopelle is committed to leading the aesthetic medical community by expanding the borders of knowledge in the rapidly growing field of aesthetics by providing research, education and innovative products and services.
In April, 2007, the Biopelle division of Ferndale Laboratories became Biopelle, Inc., an innovative, ethical aesthetic products company dedicated to products sold exclusively through physician offices, medi-spas and medical websites.
